The One Quality Every Leader Needs To Succeed

Image
If you are going to be a leader or hold a leadership position, there’s one quality you absolutely require to be successful. You need to be a seeker.  A seeker is someone who is always searching.  Seekers bypass mediocrity and are not content to settle for the status quo. They search for excellence with integrity and character. To be a great leader, commit to seeking in everything you do: Seek your true character . Leadership grows from a character. Don’t be concerned with your reputation; instead seek to clarify your character, because your character is what you truly are while your reputation is merely what others think you are. Seek your true character daily. Seek your unique qualities . Don’t be trapped by the dogma of other people’s thinking. Work to discover and develop your own unique gifts and qualities and let them lead you to the kind of contribution that only you can make. Seek the truth . Any form of dishonesty—distorting fa...

Stretches to Do at Work Every Day

Image
Work-related disorders aren’t just limited to heavy manufacturing or construction. They can occur in all types of industries and work environments, including office spaces. Research shows that repetitive motion, poor posture, and staying in the same position can cause or worsen musculoskeletal disorders. Staying in one position while doing repetitive motions is typical of a desk job. An analysis of job industry trends over the past 50 years revealed that at least 8 in 10 American workers are desk potatoes. The habits we build at our desk, especially while sitting, can contribute to discomfort and health issues, including: •          neck and shoulder pain •          obesity •          musculoskeletal disorders •          stress •          lower b...

Sign of Toxic Peoples

Image
Stay Away from Toxic People Toxic individuals are completely exhausting to be around and they can have a negative impact on your forward momentum. ❇ 1. Those who are judgmental Judgmental people will find a way to criticize anything and everything they come in contact with. You could take the time to explain something to them in great detail but it goes in one ear and out the other. They come to their conclusions before they hear any facts -- they don’t listen well and are horrible at communicating. ❇ 2. Those who are envious Being an entrepreneur can be a very bumpy journey filled with highs and lows -- while it’s important to have a strong group of supporters in your corner during the low times it’s also important to have supporters that are there to congratulate you when you hit the high points. Envious people will not be happy for you -- ever. ❇ 3. Those who are arrogant Don’t confuse confidence with arrogance -- confident people inspire, while arr...

Creativity is a natural talent and cannot be taught.

Image
This misperception is actually very convenient because it relieves everybody of the need to do anything about fostering creativity. If it is only available as a natural talent, then there is no point in seeking to do anything about creativity. That some people are naturally creative does not mean that such people would not be even more creative with some training and techniques. Nor does it mean that other people can never become creative. Natural talent vs. hard work is a topic that has been debated by people of all professions throughout history. It’s also known as Nature vs. Nurture, the difference between one’s innate ability vs. ability affected by personal experiences. The term “talented" or “gifted” is often mentioned in the artistic field. The achievements of artists, both in fine art and performing art are more obvious and visible. I have yet to find the reason why people have the need for such debate or self-awareness. Perhaps for some, it’s to gain s...

How to Deal with STRESS

Image
Stress and Tension in Life... A lecturer was giving a lecture to his student on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the audience, “How heavy do you think this glass of water is?” The students’ answers ranged from 20g to 500gm. It does not matter on the absolute weight. It depends on how long you hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it is OK. If I hold it for an hour, I will have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance. It is the exact same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, we will not be able to carry on, the burden becoming increasingly heavier. What you have to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it up again. We have to put down the burden periodically so that we can be refreshed and are able to carry on. So before you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it back home...

The anger is within me

Image
A monk decides to meditate alone, away from his monastery. He takes his boat out to the middle of the lake, moors it there, closes his eyes and begins his meditation. After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly feels the bump of another boat colliding with his own. With his eyes still closed, he senses his anger rising, and by the time he opens his eyes, he is ready to scream at the boatman who dared disturb his meditation. But when he opens his eyes, he sees it’s an empty boat that had probably got untethered and floated to the middle of the lake. At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization, and understands that the anger is within him; it merely needs the bump of an external object to provoke it out of him. From then on, whenever he comes across someone who irritates him or provokes him to anger, he reminds himself, “The other person is merely an empty boat. The anger is within me.” Some useful timeless tips 1. Throw out nonessential numbers...
